Environmental Improvement Plan

The Environmental Improvement Plan is the cross-government plan to improve the natural environment and everyone’s enjoyment of it. The plan sets out our 10 goals to restore nature and how they will be delivered by government, and through collaboration with our delivery partners - including landowners, farmers, businesses, communities and individuals.

The plan for improving the natural environment addresses the challenge through five main areas of concern:

  • Restoring nature
  • Environmental quality
  • Circular Economy
  • Environmental security, and
  • Access to nature

Intended as a roadmap for restoring England’s environment over the coming years, the plan sets out measurable commitments across every priority – from cleaner air and water to thriving wildlife and resilient landscapes.
